Archiving Your Memories

DVDs are the best way to archive your tapes, photos and movies. Your memories are "uninsurable" but insurance language guides us how to best protect what we do have. It insists that everything be under your "care, custody and control."

- CARE - Discs are easy to care for. They are small, in a protective case and easily stored in cool dry places. The JVC Taiyo Yuden DVDs Video Kitchen uses are designed to last 70+ years. Storing your memories on spinning hard drives in a hot computer is more risky. Hard drives do fail from time-to-time.

- CUSTODY - Not only can you put your hands on your DVDs quickly, custody can be spread with extra copies sent to others. Storing your memories on the web, the "cloud", is riskier should your service blow-away or dry-up unexpectedly.

- CONTROL - Once your pictures and video are written to a disc and finalized, that's it--no one else can tamper with it. When your valuable memories are on other forms of digital memory it is all too easy for you, or someone else to accidentally erase or lose everything.

Some old photos will last hundreds of years, but others are rapidly fading. Equipment to play old movies is no longer being made.
