Video Editing

Edit Great Videos

Cook up a great video at Video Kitchen. Your great video may be for personal, business, church, a court of law, national TV or school use, to name a few of our typical customers. You bring us the story you want to tell and we help you edit it together. The work is done using one of our edit stations. Our stations are sometimes called video edit suites or edit studios. Our basic stations are tape based. Our NLE stations are computer based.

If you are on a tight budget, schedule one of our self-service "Basic" stations. If quality is paramount and you want experienced help, schedule one of our computer-based NLE edit suites with a Video Kitchen operator/editor.

Our edit stations can handle these media formats: DVD, MiniDV, DVCAM, DVD, VHS, S-VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi8, MicroMV, and Digital8. In addition we work with broadcaster's BetaCamSP and 3/4" tapes with a simple transfer step. Of course you can also make a video from photos, slides, movies, and digital files of all sorts.

One Button Does it at our "Basic" Stations!

Video Kitchen self service edit station

When you edit tape-to-tape you copy just those parts you want from source tapes or DVD's to a new master VHS tape or DVD. This is easy to do at the Video Kitchen because both the player and recorder are wired together to give you glitch-free edits.

Need titles? Every edit station has a title maker offering a rich variety of type fonts.

Set the mood with music! Sound can be just as important as the pictures in a great video. All edit stations have cassette tape and CD players available for use. Bring in your own music or use selections from our library of royalty-free music.

Computer Non-Linear Editing Systems

Video Kitchen's Final Cut Pro station

What is a Non-Linear Editor (NLE)? In our case it is a Macintosh computer with Apple's Final Cut Pro software with Video Kitchen's skilled editor running the equipment. You work side-by-side with us serving as director/producer. We operate the equipment to deliver exactly the results you want.

Why use a computer instead of tape? Because tapes are linear and you are limited to starting at the beginning and building your program sequentially. You can't easily go back and rearrange scenes on your master tape. However, on a computer-based NLE system you can work on your video and audio clips randomly. You can arrange and trim these clips in any order you want to tell your story.

NLE video is digital. It doesn't lose quality as you work on it. Neat? You bet! More expensive? Yes, a little more, but it's worth it. Our Macintosh Final Cut Pro stations are used to make TV commercials and other broadcast quality work. We also have several PC based editing stations in order to interface with all your needs such as PowerPoint presentations. All these computers are loaded with support software.

When finished we can produce DVD's, CD's and and a long list of tape formats of your final product. We can help you post it on the web.

Both locations have NLE stations with experienced staff available to edit with you. Our Bardstown Road facility has two private edit suites and a sound booth where you can add voiceovers in complete silence.

Complete Support Services

You may need to add a still picture or slide to your video, such as a logo. Not a problem. Need quality low-priced dupes of your master? You'll have a hard time beating the Video Kitchen's service or price. Need a camera, light, or microphones? We rent them.

The main support service is our staff. You may be at a loss what all the technical descriptions above mean but you know the story you want to tell. This is exactly where most of our customers are when they contact us. Your editor's job is to listen to your vision, review your materials and drive the equipment to make it all happen for you. Don't worry if you never quite understand all the technology involved -- you'll have no trouble evaluating the product as it goes together.

Prices

Video Kitchen lets you make basic videos on a self-service basis. This save you money and gives you complete control. However, if you need a highly polished professional job, are pinched for time or don't want to run the equipment, you can lean on us and rent time with an operator/editor.
